A bass amp or simply "bass amp" is an audio device, usually computer-based, that employs an electrical current to produce sound for the musicians and audience. It's a more popular piece of equipment with rock musicians who use it to amplify their guitars' signals. However, it can also be used to play other audio materials. Sometimes, it will be attached to a guitar or a vocalist's instrument to amplify the sound that comes out of it. A Limiter is added to the cabinet in order to control the frequency response. A limiter does one thing - it boosts or reduces the frequency of the input signal that the bass amp feeds into the amp. This is done either by limiting the crossover points on the amp or by physically restricting the amp's output. In addition, a limiter can also "prevent" high frequency distortion, which can result from a clipping of the amplifier's speaker wire. Thus, a limiter can do one of three things - cut, boost or stabilize the frequency response of the input signal.
A buffer is often considered the least expensive of all four components. However, its role in a guitar amp is much the same as that of a Limiter. There are many ways to implement a buffer in a guitar amp, but the most popular one is by using an output buffer. This means that you bypass the amplifier and route the signal to another element. However, there is a risk of damaging the speaker wires if this method is not used carefully.
An amp with more than one input can support more than one speaker at once. The most common way of keeping multiple speakers is via a line-source amplifier. A line-level signal will go through the amp's preamp and then to the speakers. For example, if your bass amp has multiple speakers, this can be increased by a separate amp for each extra speaker. You should always check the specifications to ensure you get the correct number of speakers for your specific amp.
A relatively new type of bass amp is the combo amp. These are widely used with the Ampeg brand of guitar amplifiers. They are known for their versatility and good sound reproduction. However, the Ampeg combos tend to have less wattage than more expensive combos, which is one reason why they cost so much less. You may find that buying a cheaper amp and using it in conjunction with an expensive guitar amplifier is the best way to save money.
When looking for a bass amp, make sure that any amp you buy comes with a proper Woofer output filter. The crossover is the point where the amp acts as an amplifier as well as an amplifier. The Woofer is the part of the music that you will hear, therefore the Woofer must be the main component of the crossover. Without a Woofer filter, you may listen to some "ringing" or "cracking" when the bass amp operates. The filter cut-off frequency will help to cut this noise and provide you with cleaner-sounding music.
