Which Condenser Microphone is Best For Your Music Or Live Performance?

Condenser Microphone is the smallest type of microphones available in the market. It has the ability to capture even the faintest sound. They work on the principle of electrical induction and convert the DC power into an electrical signal, which is then amplified by a magnet. This gives better quality sounds than the dynamic microphones.

Condenser Microphones are mostly used to capture high frequencies and vocals. They are also preferred kind of microphone for recording purposes, as their accuracy and clarity are excellent. Also called capacitor microphones, condenser microphones are mostly used in studios due to their clarity and detail.

Condenser Microphones work by the principles of electrical induction and the capacitor creates a small charge by inducing sound waves into a larger conductor. The charge then makes contact with the diaphragm and produces a vibration which changes the capacitance of the coil and thus producing a change in the voltage across it. The change in voltage then changes the current flowing through it. These microphones therefore capture and reproduce the audio signal accurately.

One of the main advantages of condenser microphones is that they have high-frequency response, which is another important factor for recording or live performance. They have better sound reproduction than dynamic microphones do, but they have less power consumption. For recording purposes, the power consumed by a condenser microphone is less and so it is ideal for studio recordings. On the other hand, they have less high-frequency response than dynamic microphones do. So for vocal applications, condenser microphones may not be a good choice.

Some factors however, determine whether a microphone will be a good choice for a particular application is the amount of transient available. Transient level control (TLC) is the ability to set the level of transient available. Dynamic microphones generally have larger and greater transients because of the enclosure required. So for these types of applications, small-diaphragm condensers are preferred.

Small diaphragm condenser mics can use a variety of different types of cartridges. The best ones are sealed air cartridges. Some examples of popular sealed cartridges used in condenser microphones include the Shure, asonic, and canon.

Another type of small-diaphragm condenser microphone is the cardioid mic. It works by picking up the sound of the diaphragm and converting it to sound waves that can be amplified. There are three different kinds of cardioid microphones. One works by picking up only the bottom frequencies, another can pick up any frequency that produces a sine wave, and the third can capture a combination of both waves. The cardioid microphones usually have a large diaphragm attached to the cone.
